Keywords and definitions
knowledge: facts information, skills acquired through experience or education or other methods of inquiry (depends on the AOK, there’s math based on logic and reasoning and concepts and Art with a technical side but mainly self expression that is the essence of art that makes it wonderful)- objective and subjective knowledge
tools: an equipment used for an intended purpose that enable the acquisition, generation or analyzation of knowledge (improve knowledge)
- physical tools (physical insturments, technological/ digital systems)
- abstract tools (methods, previous knowledge/ collective knowledge as foundation, concepts, models)
improved knowledge:
- enhanced
- improving the essence of the area of knowledge (art is an improvement in way expression and expression, math like the improvement of accuracy and obtaining results)
- increase in accuracy, depth, understanding
- better integration of knowledge to be applied, usability
- how knowledge can be communicated (who does this knowledge improve for..the society, the knower, the area of knowledge)
- changed for the better
ever improving
- Continual advancements or refinement of tools, technologies, or methods over time- tools are constantly being enhanced to perform tasks more efficiently
- Consistency, universality - implies that improved tools might lead to improved knowledge in all cases
AOK
- A specific domain or field where knowledge is created and used (e.g., the Natural Sciences, Human Sciences, Mathematics, History, the Arts)
- Each AOK has its own methods and tools for acquiring and validating knowledge
Controversial questions? assumptions?
Do tools do harm to an area of knowledge (cause biases, regression, overdepencdence)?
Is this knowledge improvement consistent with other knowledge communities, or is it only prevalent for certain communities?
- implies that in a particular AOK, any improvements in tools that result in knowledge improvement across all communities
- overlooks the possibility that some AoKs may not rely on tools in the traditional sense (e.g., Ethics or certain aspects of the Arts)
- Tools are not universally applicable across AoKs but the question implies so-all areas of knowledge rely on tools
- Something that can be quantified or clearly identified
- Knowledge improvement can be measured- However, how is this improvement measured or judged as "better"?
- The improved knowledge is considered to be better knowledge than the prior knowledge
- The PT assumes that better tools will, in most cases, lead to better or more accurate knowledge
- It implies a positive correlation between tool advancement and knowledge quality
The word "always" assumes that tool improvement leads to knowledge improvement in every situation, suggesting a universal rule.
Direct correlation between tools and knowledge, assumes a linear relationship
